Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
I have put together a selection of question and answers relating to the services being offered by Cathy as Galway’s established Wedding Celebrant. If you feel there are some points not covered then feel free to get in touch through the Contacts page to discuss your requiremets in futher detail
A civil marriage takes place in an approved venue by the HSE or in the registry office.
With a Civil Celebrant you can have both religious and non religious content in your ceremony. With a Humanist ceremony there can be no reference to God.
As I am only a celebrant, I am unable to legally marry you.
It means that you will need to go to your local HSE office and register the marriage either before or after your ceremony.
In the first instance, I would recommend heading over to the HSE website at www.hse.ie
As a wedding celebran I am in a fortunate position that I can marry you anywhere. I am not restricted to approved venues or locations which allows me to be part of a special location of your choosing
The advantage of this type of ceremony is that you can make it as short or long as you wish depending on your requirements. On average, a ceremony can take anywhere between 15 to 30 minutes.
This will be discussed in greater detail when it comes to the planning of your day.
