The gusty westerly winds didn’t stop the sun shining for Noelle and Daniel for their wedding on the 26th May 2019 at the amazing Glenlo Abbey Hotel in Galway.
After a miserable weekend of west of Ireland rain, the sun came out for this gorgeous couple. They couldn’t have chosen a more beautiful location than Glenlo Abbey Hotel. The hotel is set on a 138 acre estate on the edge of Lough Corrib. To say the views are spectacular would be an understatement!
Noelle’s parents had asked me to come on board the month before the wedding as they had been doing alot of the organising and wanted to “hand it all over” so they could enjoy the build up to the big day. They were particularly eager to ensure that guests travelling from Scandinavia really enjoyed the experience of an Irish Wedding.
Naturally I was absolutely delighted as I love going back to Glenlo Abbey having worked there as wedding coordinator for 4 years. The hotel has undergone some refurbishment in recent months and is looking absolutely fabulous.
The Morning of
The morning of the wedding was busy but nice and relaxed. My first stop was to call to Glenlo Abbey Hotel to make sure that Madden’s florist were doing the Arch of flowers at the abbey entrance. Margaret Madden has been doing wedding flowers for years and is an absolute lady to work with. The Arch was simply stunning with beautiful light pink Hydrangea flowers.
The ladies were having hair and make up done at home. This took alot of stress out of the morning as they could just relax without worrying about running late or where to park… Everyone was very chilled out.
With the lovely Collette Costello and Ann- Marie Fahy looking after hair and make up, the ladies were looking absolutely fabulous. Michael Dillon was the photographer for the day. I met Michael many years ago and love his easy going manner. No fuss or stress ever with this man. He even obliged by taking snaps on my phone for me!
Patrick, Mark and Natalie were looking after everything at the Glenlo so I knew it would be a great day. They couldn’t have been more helpful.
The Bride arrived in style in a Rolls Royce with Paul at Wedding Cars Galway. Paul has a fantastic array of cars for your wedding day.
Dara Molloy was their wedding celebrant. Dara is a celtic priest and can offer many different types of ceremonies. I often say if I was to get married again, I would ask Dara!!
After the ceremony guests had a drinks and canapé reception in the beautiful Ffrench Room. The wine and Prosecco flowed with delicious canapés. The fabulous Maurice Culligan tinkled the ivories while the bridal party had some photographs taken.
The wedding meal was in the stunning River Room restaurant. A beautiful room overlooking the hotel’s golf course and the Corrib. The River Room was a perfect sized room for Noelle and Daniel’s wedding and it looked fabulous.
Chef Dominique Majeaki produced a really sumptuous meal for the guests. It was just gorgeous and the presentation was fab, really 5 star. With main course choices of Roasted Monkfish and Fillet of Beef, no one was disappointed.
Geraldine Haire from Ardilaun Creations knew exactly what I was trying to describe with the floral centerpieces. I had worked on many weddings with Geraldine whilst working at Glenlo Abbey so she is well used to my mad descriptions!!! Again, Noelle had wanted to have very simple arrangements and Geraldine did not disappoint. The fishbowl with light pink hydrangeas worked really well on the tables.
After Dinner guests were treated to some traditional irish music with the Liberties after dinner and then danced the night away with the fantastic DJ Jason Shaughnessy.
It was my first outing as a wedding planner and i couldn’t have been happier with how the day went but more importantly Noelle, Daniel and her parent’s were delighted with the service given to them.
I am really looking forward to my next wedding so if you are looking for an experienced wedding planner with over 20 years experience in hotels, look no further!
